School Meals
Our school meals are cooked on site and we are proud to employ our own catering team. Our menu development is always ‘local’ and takes into account the feedback from pupils and parents. We look to vary the menu seasonally and aim to offer a fresh salad bar and jacket potato station every day. Water and free milk are provided with every meal. A wide range of dietary requirements can be catered for and choice is good.
Pupils do not have to have a hot meal and you may send in sandwiches if you prefer. We ask that packed lunches are balanced and appropriate and that only water is sent in for the pupils to drink across the day and at lunchtime.
The cost for a 2-course school is currently £3.00 a day.
We prefer that you order your meals on a Monday for the coming week. Meals may be ordered during the morning registration, however we recommend that your child discusses their meal choices with you at home where you can support good and favourite choices.
You can use the ParentMail app on your mobile device to order your child’s meals and make your payment.
We are a cashless school, and all payments are made using SCOPAY which gives freedom to access your child’s account anywhere, anytime using a credit or debit card for payment.
All pupil accounts are required to be in credit when ordering school meals unless your child is free school meal eligible.
Please see a sample menu on our website.
Snacks at breaktime
We know that it can be very tricky to persuade your child to bring a healthy snack into school. However, we prefer it if all pupils do bring in a healthy snack and avoid those snacks that are high in fat, salt, and sugar.
We are a nut free school as we have a number of pupils who have severe allergies to nuts. We therefore ask that you do not pack any items for your child that contain nuts.
Free School Meals
We want to make sure that as many eligible pupils as possible are claiming their free school meals.
If you feel your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, then you can apply confidentially using the following link

The checking process is quick and straightforward – at Ludlow Junior we use the Department of Education’s Eligibility Tracking System (ECS).
