Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is funding that schools receive to support disadvantaged pupils of all abilities in achieving better outcomes and to narrow the gap between them and their peers. Schools receive an allocated amount of funding for pupils who meet specific criteria, including:
- Pupils who have been registered for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years.
- Children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.
- Children of armed services personnel.
Purpose of the Funding
Pupil Premium funding is not a budget assigned to each eligible child individually. Instead, schools have the flexibility to spend the funding as they see fit, provided it is used to help raise the attainment of eligible pupils and close the achievement gap between them and their peers.
How Ludlow Junior School Spends the Funding
Schools are required to publish online information about how they have used the Pupil Premium funding and the impact it has had.
At Ludlow Junior School, our approach is guided by recommendations from the Education Endowment Fund (EEF) and focuses on:
- Quality First Teaching Strategies and Best Practices: Implementing evidence-based teaching methods to enhance learning for all pupils.
- Additional Time and Support: Providing extra time and resources to ensure all children have the opportunity to achieve and succeed.
- Wider Strategies: Promoting non-academic factors that support participation, achievement, and enjoyment in education and all aspects of school life.
