Curriculum Intent

At Ludlow Junior School, we strive to provide our children with rich learning opportunities, whereby they build upon their prior knowledge and develop their understanding of the culturally diverse world we live in.  By learning about different religions, the children will have a chance to question and understand the world around them, whilst developing their levels of respect and tolerance of others.

Our teachers expertly guide and support our children to develop their understanding around different religions whilst reflecting upon their prior knowledge and understanding using the enquiry wheel. By being exposed to different beliefs and practises, we believe our children will develop the skills to recognise which beliefs and values reflect their own and others around them.  We aim to help our children become tolerant and respectful of religious beliefs, even if they differ from their own.

By the time our children leave Ludlow Junior School, we envision that they will be able to:

  • Express their own beliefs whilst being respectful and tolerant of others.
  • Have an understanding of how others may have different beliefs to their own.
  • Show empathy and respect to those around them, regardless of their faith.
  • Apply our ‘no outsiders’ values into their everyday lives.
