Charity & Fundraising
Schools funds, fundraising and charity work at Ludlow
Our school community has an amazing track record of going the extra mile to support great causes even when we have been experiencing lockdown, real financial austerity and hardship or other national financial pressures such as spiralling food and energy costs – our community is typically warm hearted and generous!
We build on these amazing qualities by looking to develop an annual plan to help our core work and to support others – ensuring that the children develop a strong understanding that self help is vital in life but helping others is a duty too
At Ludlow we know that our school budget is always going to be overstretched, under pressure and not able to deliver every aspect of the learning experience that we would wish to provide. As a result we look to a combination of fundraising and parental contributions to help us provide the best opportunities possible.
We use the school year as a chance to work with volunteers in our school community to help reach key targets for fund raising – the outcomes of which may result in even better curriculum trips and visits, curriculum enrichment activities, developments on the school site or to support specific requests from the senior team in relation to a key project
Historically our fundraising events have had great local support and whether these have taken the form of school discos, fayres, movie evenings, sales or even old clothing recycling initiatives the response is always enthusiastic and universal
However, our fundraising is not all centred on us. We want our children and community to understand that we can have a profound impact on the wellbeing and work of others. As a result we have used our school dog – Hamish – as a focal point to raise funds for other settings - including great donations to local animal shelter, Hearing Dogs Charity and the Cinnamon Trust. Hamish’s involvement always enthuses the children and our charity partners give us great feedback about the positive impact we have had on their work
Our approaches to fund raising and charity work can best be described as being ‘team Ludlow’ – whereby our whole community sets its sights on a goal, works together to meet that goal and almost always manages to exceed expectations in doing so!!
