Our vision, based on highly successful work over the last 10 years, is for our new mentor team to continue to tackle barriers to learning, promote pupil engagement, reduce the risk of exclusions and form a highly effective provision alongside our established wellbeing team, SEND provision and wider learning support model. As well as working with identified pupils, within your mentoring role, you will take on a highly effective and well established pupil volunteering system that currently has approximately 140 pupils signed up for key roles at Ludlow. Our current mentoring team is now moving on and this is an exciting opportunity to build on established strengths and identify fresh and exciting opportunities within this work too.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join our school community in the role of Assistant Learning Mentor. We are currently looking to recruit both a Senior Learning Mentor and an Assistant Learning Mentor to work alongside our pupils, families and staff team to help pupils achieve their full potential, overcome barriers and get the most out of school life. You will be expected to support and build on all of the key work led by the Senior Learning Mentor and act as a professional sounding board for new ideas.

You will need to have a background in schools and have proven expertise in pupil support – including working with challenging and potentially marginalised pupils and their families.

We expect you to have the resilience and creativity to work with those challenging pupils on a day to day basis and to form positive bonds with them and their families – taking a key lead on this from the senior mentor.

The role will include working alongside pupils in the classroom, using systems to keep them motivated/rewarded and removing barriers to learning/progress/inclusion. This may lead to you using parenting support packages based on your work.

Beyond your core mentoring workload, you will expected to support and maintain/extend our pupil volunteering scheme and consistently monitor and improve its implementation. You will need to understand how you could support the tracking of your work and be able to implement review sessions with pupils, parents, colleagues and 3rd party inspectors

If you feel you have the interpersonal skills to bring the very best out of our pupils and can see the benefit of working with their families we would like to hear from you.

Visits to our school are welcomed - if you would like to book a tour of the school please contact recruitment@ludlowjunior.org.uk

Interviews will take place on Thursday 3rd July 2025 and you should be prepared to be available for the whole day.
